Privacy Policy
In short: Nyxy is local-first. Sleep and awake logs stay on your device. Core tracking does not require an account. We do not run ads, analytics, or crash reporters in the app, and we do not sell your data.
This policy explains what Nyxy stores, what we do not collect, and how you stay in control. It covers the Nyxy mobile app (including Lock Screen timers, widgets, Live Activities, and watch companions where available) and the website at nyxy.app.
Who we are
Nyxy is a baby nap and sleep tracker for parents and caregivers. The operator of the app and this website is Nyxy. For privacy questions, email support@nyxy.app.
What the app stores on your device
Nyxy stores data locally in the app’s private storage on your phone (and, if you use them, on a paired watch or widget surfaces on the same devices). We do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate a Nyxy cloud that receives your sleep history.
Depending on how you use the app, that on-device data may include:
- Sleep and awake sessions — start time, end time, type (sleep or awake), optional 1–5 rating, and optional notes you type.
- Optional baby birthdate — if you add it in Settings, used only to show age in the app and on exports you create.
- Preferences — theme, notification and Live Activity toggles, and backup-reminder settings.
- Predictions — suggested nap, awake, and bedtime times computed on your device from your own history. They are not sent to us.
This information never leaves your device unless you export it, share a backup, or send it to someone yourself.
What we do not collect
In the Nyxy app we do not:
- Create accounts or log you in
- Sync your history to Nyxy servers
- Use advertising SDKs, trackers, or analytics
- Use crash-reporting or telemetry services
- Access your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera
- Connect to HealthKit, Google Fit, or similar health platforms
- Sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their marketing
The production Android app does not request internet permission. iOS does not need a network connection for core tracking.
Children’s information
Nyxy is built for parents and caregivers — adults — not for children to use as the app’s user. You may choose to record information about a baby or toddler (for example sleep times, notes, and an optional birthdate). That information stays on your device under your control.
We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information on Nyxy servers, because the app does not send sleep logs or birthdates to us. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact support@nyxy.app and we will delete it.
Permissions and on-device surfaces
Nyxy may ask for operating-system permission so you can log naps without unlocking the app. These features run on your device:
- Notifications — an ongoing timer and a one-tap sleep ↔ awake toggle in the notification shade. Optional on Android: promoted / live-update notifications where the system supports them.
- Live Activities and widgets (iOS) — Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Home Screen timer surfaces.
- Widgets (Android) — Home Screen timer and toggle.
- Apple Watch / Wear OS — the same timer and toggle on a paired watch, where supported. State is shared with the watch through the platform’s local device connection, not through Nyxy servers.
You can turn notifications and Live Activities off in Nyxy Settings and in system Settings. Denying a permission does not stop you from logging inside the app.
Backup, export, and sharing
You control copies of your data:
- Backup — creates a JSON file of your history and opens the system share sheet. You choose where it goes (Files, iCloud Drive, Drive, AirDrop, email, and so on).
- Export — creates a shareable log (for your records or a consultant) the same way: you pick the destination.
- Restore — you pick a backup file on the device. Nyxy reads that file locally and replaces the on-device history.
Once you share a file with another app, cloud, or person, that destination’s privacy policy applies. Nyxy cannot recall a file after you send it.
This website
The marketing site at nyxy.app is static. It does not use accounts, advertising cookies, or analytics pixels.
- Theme preference — if you use the light/dark toggle, the site stores
nyxy-themein your browser’s localStorage so the choice can persist. You can clear it with your browser data. - Fonts — the site loads Fraunces, Manrope, and JetBrains Mono from Google Fonts. Google may process technical data such as your IP address according to Google’s privacy policy.
- Hosting logs — the host that serves nyxy.app may keep standard server logs (for example IP address, browser type, and the page requested) to operate and secure the site. We do not use those logs for advertising or profiling.
Support email
If you email support@nyxy.app, we receive your email address, the message, and any attachments you include. We use that only to reply and to handle your request. We do not add support mail to a marketing list.
Your choices
- Don’t add optional data — birthdate and notes are optional.
- Export or backup — anytime, from Settings.
- Delete on-device data — remove sessions in the app, or delete the app / clear app storage in system Settings. Because we do not hold a copy, deleting the app (and any backups you made) removes what Nyxy stored.
- Support mail — ask us to delete an email thread you sent, and we will.
We cannot remotely delete sleep history from your phone, because we never received it.
How long data is kept
On-device app data stays until you change it, restore a backup over it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted in the ordinary course of mailbox hygiene, unless we must keep them longer to meet a legal obligation.
Legal notes
No sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share app sleep logs with third parties, because we do not receive those logs.
International visitors
Nyxy does not operate an account database of sleep history. If you contact us by email, that correspondence is processed in order to respond to you. If a privacy law (including GDPR or CCPA/CPRA) gives you rights in data we actually hold — typically a support email — you can exercise them by writing to support@nyxy.app.
Security
App data lives in the operating system’s private app sandbox on your device. We do not transmit your sleep history to Nyxy. Protect your phone with a passcode or biometrics, and treat backup/export files as sensitive if they include notes.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way — for example if we add accounts, cloud sync, or analytics — we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app or site after an update means you accept the revised policy. For significant changes, we will aim to note them in the app or on the site when we can.
